A Million Dreams : I finally did it

Some dreams sit quietly in the corners of our hearts for years. They are not impossible dreams. They do not require extraordinary talent, endless resources, or perfect timing. They simply ask for one thing: courage. And sometimes, courage takes longer to find than we expect. There is a strange feeling that comes with finally saying yes to something you have wanted for so long. It is equal parts excitement, fear, and disbelief. You wonder why you waited so long, and at the same time, you are grateful that you finally took the leap.

For more than ten years, I had not colored my hair. Whenever I did, I always stayed within the comfort of natural shades. Browns, soft highlights, colors that blended in rather than stood out. They felt safe and familiar. This time, however, I wanted something different. Not something loud or dramatic, but something unexpected. Something that felt a little more like a dream and a little less like a compromise.

Lavender purple had always been one of my favorite colors. There is something calming about it, something soft and magical at the same time. So when I finally decided to color parts of my hair lavender, it felt like I was choosing joy over hesitation. The result was exactly what I had hoped for. The color was subtle enough to feel elegant, yet different enough to bring a smile to my face every time I caught a glimpse of it.

What surprised me most was not the color itself. It was the feeling that came afterward. For years, I had built this tiny dream into something much bigger than it actually was. I had convinced myself there would be a better time, a better reason, or a better version of me who would be brave enough to do it. But once I did, I realized that the only thing standing between me and that dream was my own fear.

It may seem strange that something as simple as coloring my hair could change the way I think, but it did. It reminded me that dreams do not always begin with grand gestures. Sometimes they begin with a small act of courage, a simple decision to stop waiting and start living. And if I can be brave enough to wear a little lavender in my hair after all these years, perhaps I can be brave enough to chase some of my bigger dreams too. After all, every dream deserves a chance, no matter how small it may seem.
