What’s a completely useless fact you love sharing?
One of my favorite useless facts is that honey never spoils. Archaeologists have found pots of honey in ancient tombs that were still perfectly edible thousands of years later. I have absolutely no practical use for this information, yet I never miss an opportunity to share it.
There’s something oddly comforting about it. In a world where almost everything has an expiration date, honey just quietly exists, unchanged. Milk goes bad. Bread goes stale. Leftovers become science experiments in the back of the fridge. But honey simply carries on.
I think that’s why I remember this fact so easily. It’s not really about honey. It’s about the idea that something can endure for centuries without losing what makes it valuable. For such an ordinary item found in almost every kitchen, that’s surprisingly remarkable.
Will this fact ever improve my life? Probably not. But if the conversation ever turns to food, history, or random trivia, I’ll happily bring it up again. Some facts are useful. Others are just delightful. This one falls firmly into the second category.
